Job summary

EnableSA Recruitment in Port Elizabeth seeks a Junior Accountant to support day-to-day accounting activities, including AP/AR, journal entries, and bank reconciliations. The role emphasizes accurate financial data capture and timely reporting.

The ideal candidate has Grade 12 and a Bachelor’s/Diploma in Accounting, with 1–3 years of accounting experience and familiarity with common software (Sage, Xero, SAP). This on-site role offers exposure to monthly closings and budgeting processes.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Financial Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
• 1–3 years' accounting or finance experience.
• Experience with bank reconciliations, creditors, debtors, and general ledger processing.
• Experience with monthly management accounts.
• Understanding of payroll statutory requirements.
• Experience using accounting software such as Sage Evolution, Sage Pastel, Xero, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Capture and maintain accurate financial data in the accounting system.
• Prepare and process journal entries.
• Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Preparation of management accounts and financial reports.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and statutory requirements.
• Assist with VAT calculations and submissions.
