Summary / Purpose
The role as Junior Accountant you will play a crucial role in our finance department. You will be responsible for managing and overseeing various accounting tasks, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations. This position reports to the Senior Accountant and involves the following key responsibilities:
Key Deliverables
- Financial Administration & Team Support
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyse financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. Compiling financial spreadsheets, reports, statements, and other documents, as needed.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with the finance team to create and ensure compliance within the company\'s budget, forecast financial performance, and identify areas for cost savings or revenue growth.
- Month-end and Year-end Close: Compile month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and preparation of financial reports.
- Audit Preparation: Assist in the preparation of documents and schedules for both internal and external audits, working closely with auditors to ensure a smooth audit process.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns, including income tax, VAT, and other relevant taxes. Keep abreast of changing tax regulations.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, reviewing accounts for accuracy and making necessary adjustments.
- Accounting Policies and Procedures: Ensure accounting policies and procedures are maintained with proper internal financial controls. Performing account reconciliations and audits. Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Financial Administration: Performing account reconciliations and audits. Reporting financial discrepancies, errors, and customer complaints. Preparing and processing financial documents such as bills, receipts, and invoices. Tracking and monitoring financial transactions. Maintain and update accounting records and files.
Requirements
- Bachelor\'s degree in accounting, finance, or a related financial field or diploma.
- Proven 3 years\' experience as an Accountant or similar role, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations will be an advantage.
- Advanced in MS Office (Outlook, Excel - advanced, PowerPoint, Word).
- Understanding and knowledge of the respective financial policies, procedures, and processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration across departments.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
General
Applicant should locate in Kempton Park and willing to travel to Brits / SA Citizen / Valid SA code 08 driver licence and own transport.
