Job description
Job Purpose

The Junior Accountant will provide financial and administrative support to ensure accurate accounting records and efficient financial operations within the automotive dealership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Record Keeping & Data Entry Capture and process supplier invoices, payments, and customer receipts. Maintain accurate ledgers for accounts payable and accounts receivable. Reconcile daily cash, EFT, and credit card sales from vehicle and service departments. Record journal entries and adjustments as required.
  • Reconciliations & Reporting Prepare and reconcile bank statements, petty cash, and credit card transactions. Assist with monthly balance sheet reconciliations. Support preparation of management reports and financial statements. Pile vehicle costings and ensure proper cost allocations.
  • Dealership Accounting Support Process vehicle sales documentation and post related financial entries. Reconcile floor plan (vehicle financing) accounts with banks or financial institutions. Track and verify commission payments, dealer incentives, and warranty claims. Liaise with the sales and service departments to ensure correct revenue recognition.
  • Compliance & Administration Ensure VAT, PAYE, and other statutory requirements are recorded accurately for submission. Maintain supporting documentation for audits and internal reviews. Assist in implementing internal controls and financial procedures.
  • General Support Support month-end and year-end close processes. Handle queries from suppliers, customers, and other internal departments. Provide general administrative support to the finance team.
Qualifications and Experience

Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 1–3 years' accounting experience (preferably in the automotive industry or dealership environment).

Experience with Motor Dealership Accounting Software

Experience with motor dealership accounting software (\"e.g., Kerridge, Automate, Evolve, or Pastel\") advantageous. Strong understanding of reconciliations and general ledger processes. Proficiency in MS Excel and basic financial reporting.
