Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to manage and maintain accurate financial records using Xero accounting software. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong financial acumen, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach to managing both bookkeeping and related administrative functions. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth day-to-day financial operations of the company.
What to Expect
Accounting & Financial Administration
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in Xero
 - Manage the full accunting function up to trial balance
 - Process and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
 - Strong collections experience with particular reference to property industry
 - Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory submissions (e.g. PAYE, UIF, SDL)
 - Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
 - Assist with monthly management accounts and year-end audit preparations
 - Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules
 - Monitor cash flow and assist with financial forecasting
 - Billings, collections, banking and payments
 
Payroll & Compliance Support
- Prepare monthly payroll data and liaise with external payroll provider
 - Ensure compliance with SARS and other relevant legislation
 - Assist with submissions to external accountants and auditors as required
 
Administrative Duties
- Manage filing and record-keeping of financial documentation
 - Liaise with suppliers, clients, and service providers regarding financial matters
 - Assist with company secretarial and compliance administration where necessary
 - Support the Financial Manager, General Manager or Director with ad hoc tasks and reporting
 
What You'll Bring
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
 - Minimum of 3 years' accounting experience
 - Proven experience using Xero Accounting Software is essential
 - Solid understanding of accounting principles and SARS regulations
