Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to manage and maintain accurate financial records using Xero accounting software. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong financial acumen, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach to managing both bookkeeping and related administrative functions. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth day-to-day financial operations of the company.

What to Expect

Accounting & Financial Administration

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in Xero
  • Manage the full accunting function up to trial balance
  • Process and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
  • Strong collections experience with particular reference to property industry
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and other statutory submissions (e.g. PAYE, UIF, SDL)
  • Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
  • Assist with monthly management accounts and year-end audit preparations
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules
  • Monitor cash flow and assist with financial forecasting
  • Billings, collections, banking and payments
Payroll & Compliance Support
  • Prepare monthly payroll data and liaise with external payroll provider
  • Ensure compliance with SARS and other relevant legislation
  • Assist with submissions to external accountants and auditors as required
Administrative Duties
  • Manage filing and record-keeping of financial documentation
  • Liaise with suppliers, clients, and service providers regarding financial matters
  • Assist with company secretarial and compliance administration where necessary
  • Support the Financial Manager, General Manager or Director with ad hoc tasks and reporting
