Job summary

A community development organization in Cape Town is seeking a JSE Mentor to facilitate and mentor participants in a finance challenge in schools. You will ensure engagement by maintaining at least 10 teams, coordinating visits, and submitting monthly reports to the JSE. Candidates should have a minimum of Matric with knowledge of finance advantageous, along with experience working with children. The position demands excellent communication and planning skills, providing a great opportunity to impact young learners.

Job description

The JSE Mentor will ensure the facilitation and mentorship of the JSE challenge is provided in schools, help young children and participants to develop skills and interest in the world of finance and investment.

School Engagement & Project Coordination:
  • Ensure that each school has a minimum of 10 teams consisting of 4 members per team (total 40 learners).
  • Register a minimum of eight schools.
  • Visit the teams at the schools or have them visit the centre at least twice a month.
  • Ensure that all mentored schools are actively participating for the duration of the challenge.
  • A report to be submitted to JSE on the 15th of each monthly competition detailing activities of the visits to the school for that month and of the challenges faced.
Qualification and Experience:
  • Matric (Grade 12).
  • Knowledge of basic finance and investment will be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with children.
Required Skills:
  • Ability to plan, follow procedures, meet deadlines and work co-operatively with team members.
  • Excellent timekeeping abilities and scheduling experience.
Behavioural Competencies:
  • Competent, self-motivated, honest and friendly.
  • Effective verbal and written communication ability.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances where required.
