Job summary

Graduate Data Analyst (Ai And Analytics) internship at Ares Holding in Cape Town, Western Cape. The role focuses on analyzing consumer patterns, seasonal purchasing, and presenting findings to planning and management teams to influence merchandise assortments and revenue.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Stores experience will be an advantage.
  • Strong numeracy and ability to handle large data volumes.
  • Understanding of supply chain processes and concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Analyst: monitor sales data by price, category, trend and geography.
  • Identify purchasing trends and recommend adjustments.
  • Track timing and scope of seasonal changes.
  • Assist with merchandising recommendations.
  • Develop supply strategies to reduce stock outs.
  • Evaluate reports: PO history, sales history, seasonal analysis, aged inventory, liquidation plans.
  • Communicate with stores when needed.
  • Monitor in-season trade and react.
  • Set up seasonal line lists per store.
  • Plan for consumer trends, launches and promotions.
  • Oversee shipping, receiving and warehousing.
  • Maintain inventory reporting: targets, margins, health, schedules.
  • Place purchase orders and track orders.
  • Set up GTM, SKU, pricing and order forms.
  • Maintain ATS regularly.
  • Assist with pricing for staff and sample sales.
  • Inbound containers and location reviews.
  • Inventory tracker tool and retail top seller analysis.
  • Weekly sales reporting and return management.
  • Any agreed reporting pack.

Job description

The position watches consumer patterns, such as seasonal purchasing and presents their findings to the planning and management teams. Additionally, the Junior Buyer offers insight on ways to alter merchandise assortments in order to increase revenue and minimize loss. This is done by analyzing sales data (macro & micro consumer trends and spending), frequent reporting cadence, planning tools management and highlighting inventory areas which need addressing.

Qualifications
  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Stores experience will be an advantage
  • A strong understanding of lifestyle footwear brands and the market opportunities within the retail, wholesale and Ecommerce sector
  • Highly numerate and able to deal with large volumes of data
  • Organized and deadline driven with exceptional attention to detail
  • Sound understanding of supplier profiles
  • Must have good problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of supply chain processes and concepts
  • Ability to prioritize tasks according to importance in a fast-paced environment
  • Multi-tasking capability without compromising on quality
  • Dependable, punctual and able to work flexible working hours
  • Valid Driver's license and own transport
  • Willing to travel locally.
