Duties & Responsibilities

Job Description: A reputable and fast‑growing short‑term insurance company is seeking a motivated Junior Commercial Underwriter to join its professional underwriting team. This position is ideal for an individual who has a minimum of two years’ commercial underwriting experience, a solid foundation in short‑term insurance, and a desire to develop technical underwriting expertise within a supportive, structured environment. You’ll work closely with senior underwriters and management, gaining exposure to all aspects of commercial underwriting, broker liaison, and policy administration.

Desired Experience & Qualification
  • Matric / Senior Certificate – essential
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Commercial Underwriting within short‑term insurance
  • Working knowledge of Motor and Non‑Motor commercial lines
  • Experience on TIAL or similar underwriting system
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong administrative and organisational abilities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Computer literacy – MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines
  • RE5 qualification (advantageous)
  • Class of Business: Commercial Lines (advantageous)
  • Exposure to risk surveys and underwriting audits
