DVT is a leading software development company delivering cutting-edge solutions in South Africa and globally. This role focuses on defining and evolving the Java/JVM engineering strategy, setting standards, and driving AI-enabled development across multiple streams.

As a Java technical authority, you will guide architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and contribute to reusable assets for proposals and client engagements.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years in software engineering with a strong Java / JVM focus.
• Proven experience leading an engineering team or technical competency stream.
• BSc IT, BEng, or equivalent technical degree; AWS certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the Java / JVM engineering strategy, including Node.js, Python, and Go streams.
• Act as the Java technical authority across engagements and solution contexts.
• Drive adoption of AI development tools and LangChain4j-based integration in Java services.
• Define Java competency standards and provide mentorship across career levels
• Assess candidates on backend fundamentals and Java depth; contribute to bid technical assets.
