Job summary

Ergasia Placements seeks an experienced IT professional to maintain and optimise our on-premises servers, storage, and network infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance for business needs.

You will manage firewalls, switches, routers, VPNs, and cloud resources with a strong focus on security and compliance, perform patching and troubleshooting, own backup and disaster recovery, and support secure user access and provisioning.

Qualifications

• National Senior Certificate or equivalent to NQF4.
• 5 years of experience in an IT environment, with at least 3 years as a System Administrator.
• MCSA and CCNA certifications.
• VMWARE and VEEAM certifications.
• Extensive server, virtualization, backups and network experience.
• Valid RSA Driver's License with own transport.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, and optimise on-premises servers, storage, and network infrastructure for availability and performance.
• Manage network components (firewalls, switches, routers and VPNs) with focus on security and compliance.
• Perform proactive patch management, updates, and troubleshooting to prevent issues.
• Own backup, disaster recovery, and restore processes, including regular testing.
• Apply cybersecurity controls, assist with vulnerability assessments, and respond to incidents per procedures.
• Act as escalation point above Tier 1 for complex infrastructure issues and manage secure user access and onboarding/offboarding.

• Own backup, disaster recovery, and restore processes -including regular testing, to protect critical data and meet business opportunity and regulatory requirements.
• Apply cybersecurity controls, assist with vulnerability assessments, and respond to incidents in line with our established procedures and timelines.
• Act as the key escalation point above Tier 1 Support for complex infrastructure issues and manage secure user access, account provisioning, and onboarding/offboarding processes.
