Job summary

Responsibilities
  • Provide first‑line IT support with a focus on fibre optic networks and Layer 2 technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network‑related issues to minimise downtime.
  • Ensure smooth network operations and quick problem resolution.
  • Communicate effectively with end‑users and Internet service providers (ISPs).
  • Support documentation and escalate to senior teams as needed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in IT or Network Support, with exposure to fibre optic and Layer 2 networks.
  • Strong technical knowledge of VLANs, STP, Ethernet, MPLS, and L2 VPN.
  • Hands‑on experience with Layer 2 switches and fibre optic cabling/testing.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also supporting team escalations.
Preferred
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, Network+).
  • Knowledge of advanced Layer 2 technologies (VXLAN, QoS, L2VPN).
  • Experience with automation/scripting for network management.
  • Bilingual in English and Afrikaans.
