My client, a group operating across Africa, is seeking an IT Operations Manager to join their Head Office in Gauteng. You will be the gatekeeper of all things tech within the organisation, ensuring everything runs smoothly from servers to networks, cloud systems to data governance, while also leading strategic IT upgrades to keep the business ahead of the curve. This is a full day onsite / in-office position.
Oversee the daily operation and performance of the organisation’s IT network infrastructure, servers and core systems, including scheduled maintenance, upgrades, backups, and accurate upkeep of the IT asset register.
Develop, manage and forecast the annual IT budget, ensuring optimal utilisation of resources while maintaining cost‑efficiency, reliability and scalability across all technology platforms.
Implement and maintain rigorous cyber security controls, policies and procedures to safeguard data integrity and ensure compliance with all relevant standards, legislation and corporate governance requirements.
Lead end‑to‑end execution of IT projects, including new system implementations, infrastructure upgrades and migration initiatives, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope and aligned to business objectives.
Continuously assess and evaluate emerging technologies, hardware, software and solutions to identify opportunities for improvement, innovation and long‑term value creation.
Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues, apply root‑cause analysis and implement long‑term, sustainable solutions to minimise downtime. Provide support to the wider group regarding IT‑related queries and service requests.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders across all business units to ensure IT initiatives, solutions and services meet operational requirements and enable strategic and commercial outcomes.
Develop, maintain and periodically test disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure resilience and data protection across all operational environments.
Draft, implement and monitor SLAs for regional IT contractors, ensuring performance standards are met, contractual obligations are fulfilled and service delivery is consistently maintained.
Willingness and ability to travel to African regions for approximately 4–5 weekdays per month, as required by operational and project demands.
