IT Network Engineer job vacancy in Cape Town.

Well established Cape Town based IT company is seeking an experience IT Network Engineer (Cisco / Mikrotik).

This is a mid level Tier 2 position and requires minimum of 3+ years of Networking experience, specifically Cisco / Mikrotik. Ideal candidate preferably has experience working in an IT / ISP or IT relevant environment.

This is a permanent position and based full time at the offices in Cape Town, Western Cape during the week.

The person must have completed their Matric (Grade 12) schooling & have N+ qualification, Cisco, Mikrotik certifications or equivalent. The individual must have their own car and valid drivers.

Experience working with Routers, Switches, SDWAN. Strong networking and communication skills is a requirement for this role.

The individual will be responsible for being the single point of contact for the customer: for all supported applications, configuring and maintaining client infrastructure as well as engaging with 3rd party suppliers. Resolving network issues and taking ownership of all owned incidents from logging to resolution.

If the candidate is not currently living in Western Cape province, then relocation to this province will be for the person’s own cost. Only South African candidate’s will be considered for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Logging of Incidents and Service Requests, ensuring end to end management and ownership of tickets.
  • Handling 2nd line support requests.
  • Identify and escale requests requiring urgent attention in order to resolve as quickly as possible.
  • Ensuring that an ongoing contribution toward positive customer satisfaction is achieved.
  • Liaise with various 3rd parties, internally and externally, toward achieving resolution within SLA.
  • Adherence to call lifecycle processes and procedures.
  • Maintain adequate knowledge of supported systems to provide high-level support.
  • Maintains and consistently demonstrates a general knowledge of service desk guidelines, processes and procedures
  • Assist with internal adhoc IT support queries.
  • Liaising with the project management team, 3rd line engineers and network engineers on a regular basis.
  • Will be part of an after-hours standby rotation cycle.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must have valid Driver’s License and own vehicle
  • Must have completed Matric & N+ qualification or equivalent
