Job Title: IT Infrastructure Project Manager (Intermediate)

Reports To: Program Manager – IT Infrastructure Service Delivery & Projects
1. Role Purpose
The IT Infrastructure Project Manager is accountable for end‑to‑end delivery of all IT infrastructure projects (networking, AV, access control, printing, voice, servers, hybrid cloud). This includes, but is not limited to, project planning, budget and vendor management, governance and change control, stakeholder engagement across all customers divisions and countries, and seamless hand‑over into ongoing SLA‑driven operations.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and deliver IT infrastructure projects from initiation to closure.
- Engage with clients, AIT, Schools & Tertiary to define business requirements.
- Work with AIT, IT leads and SDMs to translate the business requirements into IT Infrastructure requirements and define the IT design and BOM
- Engage with vendors to provide quotes as per the defined BOM, review quotes for accuracy and submit to finance for Capex approval and PO to issued.
- Manages project budget in terms of approval of budget, controlling projects costs and vendor performance.
- Engage with AIT infrastructure leads for allocation of internal IT resources for each project.
- For new campus sites, expansions and relocations, engage with site construction teams to provide IT dependencies and coordinate timelines for implementation.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for delivery of IT equipment.
- Coordinate internal IT resources, SDMs and third parties/vendors (including Rest of Africa) for implementation of IT infrastructure and equipment.
- Liaise with in‑country ICT resources and/or local partner coordinators for the rest of Africa.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues to resolution.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
- Adheres to formal AIT change control and project governance as defined by the central PMO.
- Ensure adherence to AIT governance and compliance standards.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
- Coordinate with AIT infrastructure leads, internal IT resources and SDM for operational handover to client, including but operational readiness, handover documentation, training and SLA integration
- Ensure all outstanding issues are addressed
- Conduct post-project reviews and ensure documentation is complete.
3. Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) managing IT infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure domains such as networking, servers, IT security, Office 365, voice, data cabling, audio visual etc..
- Proficiency with project management tools (MS Project,).
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong leadership, decision‑making, conflict resolution and continuous improvement capabilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience working in structured project environments (Agile, PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent).
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrix environment.
4. Education & Certifications
- Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) – preferred.
- ITIL certification – advantageous.
