Job summary

A leading IT security firm in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Information Security Officer to manage security projects and ensure compliance with established frameworks. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of IT experience, including 2 years in security operations, and will be responsible for delivering training and preparing reports. This position offers a full-time, onsite opportunity.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of IT experience, with at least 2 years in information security operations.
• Experience with implementing and operating security tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
• Experience within an ISO 27001 or regulated environment is advantageous.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage information security projects and operational tasks.
• Apply and maintain compliance with established security frameworks and standards.
• Support the implementation and operation of key security solutions, including endpoint protection, XDR, PAM, and vulnerability management tools.
• Conduct system and configuration audits to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
• Prepare executive and board-level reports on security posture, incidents, and ongoing initiatives.
• Deliver or coordinate regular security awareness training sessions for staff.
• Collaborate with IT, compliance, and management teams to ensure security requirements are integrated into business processes.
• Assist in incident investigation and follow-up actions when required.

Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of overall IT experience, including at least 2 years in information security operations.
• Experience with endpoint protection, XDR, PAM, vulnerability management, and awareness training platforms.
• Background in IT infrastructure, system administration, or related fields.
• Experience working within an ISO 27001 or other regulated environment would be a strong advantage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Professional certifications (e.g. CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Security Operations Analyst, or similar) would be advantageous.
