Our client based in Paarl requires a hands‑on and self‑managed networking specialist, to manage commercial and residential clients.
A valid driver’s license is essential. Own vehicle highly advantageous!
Requirements:
- Matric certificate, or relevant qualification
- Valid driver’s license – ESSENTIAL!
- Min two years’ experience in technical support, installations, or a similar field
- Basic understanding of networking concepts and broadband technologies
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently and accurately
- Comfortable working at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Good customer service skills with a professional attitude
- Ability to work in a team and assist colleagues when required
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to update documentation accurately
- Physically fit and able to handle equipment and tools
- Reliable, responsible, and able to work under minimal supervision
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the helpdesk during office hours by interacting with customers in a professional manner and providing technical support and advice
- Update newly installed customers on the system
- Update UNMS by adopting devices daily
- Perform stock control over all inventory at the office premises
- Interact with customers in a professional manner and provide technical support and advice
- Update Google Calendar/OneNote with work completed on installations and repairs
- Stay up to date with the latest broadband technologies and techniques
- Travel to residential homes and businesses for service calls with the company vehicle in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all road laws and speed limits
- Maintain tools and equipment to ensure optimal operating conditions
- Provide written and verbal instructions to customers on operating their routers
- Test functionality and performance following system installations
- Inform customers of limitations associated with their selected packages
- Keep track of inventory while in the field
- Remove equipment after a client cancels or changes service
- Perform ad hoc tasks as required by management
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot broadband services for customers
- Conduct site surveys for potential customers to evaluate serviceability
- Climb ladders or work in tight spaces to install or repair equipment
- Test and repair faulty equipment and resolve infrastructure issues
- Adhere to all required health and safety regulations and conduct a weekly tool talk
- Identify unsafe situations and take appropriate corrective action
- Work effectively in a team and assist teammates where necessary
