Job description

Investec Sandton is looking for a candidate that will be responsible for fulfilling the role of an IT Business Analyst within the Capital Management team sitting within the CS Tech Risk division.

The role will involve focusing on business‑as‑usual deliverables and support for multiple global regions across Investec.

Key Responsibilities

• Write and maintain business specifications.
• Produce functional documents and system configuration changes; consider best practice operational controls.
• Participate in and drive technical design sessions with IT architects (when required) before compiling the functional specifications.
• Design and manage the implementation of automated schedules in Control‑M with the respective team.
• Create and document test scenarios when applicable.
• Work with the Data Warehouse team to define and source new data requirements and maintain data mapping specifications.
• Work with the software vendor on implementing new business rule configurations and/or updating existing configurations.
• Participate in the full SDLC process, managing the entire delivery – from requirements to documentation, managing the change with developers, testing, logging change control, and reviewing post‑deployment changes.
• Support general day‑to‑day production application support and operational requests from business, handling data and system‑specific queries and their resolution.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and priorities effectively.
• Build and maintain strong communication with stakeholders across IT teams and business units.
• Multi‑task, prioritize, deliver to milestones, and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
• Manage stakeholder expectations regarding requirements.
• Write SQL queries to retrieve data from databases.
• Take ownership of tasks and projects, following issues or concerns through to delivery.
• Demonstrate strong facilitation skills and teamwork.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

• IT, commercial or science degree.
• Experience with Agile/Lean practices: user stories, backlog grooming, sprint ceremonies.
• Familiarity with Azure, ADO, Confluence or equivalent BA tools.
• Basic level of SQL and data analysis experience.
• Prior work experience or knowledge of financial market instruments (must have).
• 5+ years of experience as a Systems or Technical Business Analyst in the banking industry, specifically within Capital Management, Risk Management, Corporate and Investment Banking teams preferred.
• Completion or in‑process of FRM, PRM or CFA certification is advantageous.
• Basel regulatory knowledge (credit risk) is advantageous.
• Moody’s Risk Authority application experience is advantageous.
