A leading consulting firm in South Africa is seeking an IT Asset Management Specialist to maintain accurate records of IT hardware and software assets. This role ensures optimal allocation and compliance while collaborating with procurement and IT support teams. Ideal candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in IT and 3–5 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in asset management systems and reporting tools is essential.

This role ensures that technology resources are optimally allocated, tracked, and aligned with operational needs — supporting both administrative staff and training delivery infrastructure.
The specialist will work closely with procurement, finance, and IT support teams to manage the lifecycle of IT assets, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Asset Lifecycle ManagementMaintain a complete and accurate inventory of all IT hardware, software, and licenses used across campuses, classrooms, and offices.Oversee the full lifecycle of IT assets : acquisition, deployment, maintenance, upgrade, and disposal.Coordinate with procurement to ensure proper purchasing, vendor management, and warranty tracking.Ensure assets are properly tagged, documented, and traceablepliance & GovernanceEnsure adherence to software licensing agreements, vendor contracts, and data security policies.Support internal and external audits related to IT asset usage and compliance.Maintain documentation to align with ISO, GDPR, and other relevant compliance frameworks.Operational SupportCollaborate with IT support to allocate and recover devices for staff, trainers, and students.Manage the readiness of classroom and lab equipment, including laptops, projectors, AV systems, and network devices.Support onboarding / offboarding processes by provisioning and decommissioning user assets.Reporting & AnalyticsGenerate regular reports on asset utilization, depreciation, and maintenance costs.Provide insights on cost optimization, asset standardization, and refresh cycles.Track and forecast future hardware / software requirements for new programs or training centers.Continuous ImprovementDevelop and refine ITAM policies, workflows, and documentation.Implement or enhance asset management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Lansweeper, ManageEngine).
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.3–5 years of experience in IT asset management, IT support, or IT operations.Experience in an educational, academy, or training environment is an advantage.Technical SkillsProficient in IT asset management and inventory tracking systems.Familiar with software license management and vendor compliance.Understanding of ITIL principles and asset lifecycle processes.Knowledge of procurement, budgeting, and warranty tracking processes.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
