About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Irrigation Specialist to join their team, focusing on the design, installation, and maintenance of agricultural irrigation systems in the Upington region. This role is critical for optimizing water usage and ensuring efficient crop hydration in an area where water is a precious resource. You will work on a hybrid basis, involving both on-site assessments and remote system design/monitoring. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of hydraulics, soil moisture dynamics, and various irrigation technologies, coupled with the ability to troubleshoot and implement effective water management solutions for diverse agricultural crops. This position offers the chance to work with modern irrigation technology and contribute to sustainable farming practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and plan efficient irrigation systems (drip, sprinkler, centre pivot) based on crop needs and field topography.
• Install, maintain, and repair irrigation equipment and related infrastructure.
• Monitor system performance and water usage, implementing adjustments for optimal efficiency and conservation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to irrigation system malfunctions.
• Advise farmers on best practices for water management and irrigation scheduling.

Requirements
