OVK Bedryf BPK in Ladybrand seeks a seasoned Irrigation Category Manager to lead the irrigation range, drive profitable growth, and support branches and customers.

You will develop strategy, identify new product lines, negotiate supplier terms, and oversee inventory and pricing while coaching the Product Series Manager and sales teams. The role requires 10+ years in agricultural irrigation and willingness to travel to branches and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in agricultural irrigation with commercial and technical expertise.
• Experience in purchasing, supplier negotiations, inventory and category management; leadership experience.
• Good understanding of irrigation design, pumps, pipes, valves, filters, pivots, drip and micro irrigation.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in agriculture, irrigation, engineering, supply chain or business management preferred.
• Knowledge of irrigation design software and AS400; membership of SABI or similar bodies strengthens applications.
• Willingness to travel regularly to branches, suppliers, marketers and customers.

Responsabilités

• Develop and implement the group's irrigation category strategy, growth plan and annual budget.
• Identify new product lines, brands, market opportunities and geographic expansions.
• Negotiate supplier terms, pricing, rebates, discounts, service levels and exclusivity where appropriate.
• Manage and develop the Product Series Manager: Irrigation and ensure clear accountability.
• Support branch managers and marketers with technical advice, quotes and joint customer visits.
• Determine inventory policies, revenue goals, availability, inventory age and the DC/direct-delivery model.
• Ensure product quality, warranty and claims management, supplier compliance and applicable standards.
• Analyse sales, margin and inventory reports and report monthly on performance and improvement actions.
• Lead training and product knowledge for branches and sales staff.
