Job description
Our client is seeking a mature, experienced HR / IR Specialist to join the HR function on a permanent basis. This role will provide hands-on HR and Industrial Relations support in a large, industrial environment, oversee a small HR team, and report directly to the Head of HR.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end HR and IR support to business units in a high-compliance environment
  • Manage and guide disciplinary processes, grievances, incapacity, misconduct and performance matters
  • Ensure compliance with labour legislation and internal policies; advise management on best practice
  • Lead or support CCMA/Bargaining Council matters, investigations, case preparation and representation (where applicable)
  • Support employee relations, engagement initiatives, and change/organisational initiatives
  • Oversee and mentor the HR team, ensuring service delivery and turnaround times
  • Assist with HR reporting, metrics and continuous improvement of HR processes

Minimum requirements

  • Relevant HR qualification (Degree/Diploma)
  • Proven, senior-level HR and IR experience, ideally in a large industrial/manufacturing/logistics/engineering environment
  • Strong knowledge of SA labour legislation and ER processes
  • Confident stakeholder management and coaching ability
  • Ability to work with urgency, discretion, and sound judgement
  • Experience in a unionised environment
  • Track record of leading a team and driving HR standards across sites
