Job summary

Catch in Strand, Cape Town, is hiring a Developer / Systems Integrator for a permanent, full-time hybrid role. You’ll build edge gateways, write converters and scripts to support the IoT and energy-monitoring platform.

Reporting to the Lead Developer, you’ll own a workstream within six months, work on dashboards and platform automation, and support Linux servers and logs. The role requires about two years of relevant experience and a fast-learning mindset.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Python 3 for REST APIs and data handling.
• Strong JavaScript fundamentals for payload decoders.
• Linux mastery and SSH administration.
• Git and GitHub for version control and collaboration.
• Ability to interpret datasheets and register maps accurately.
• Clear written English and careful live-systems handling.

Responsibilities

• Bench build/configure edge gateways and verify before dispatch.
• Write converters/decoders to produce named, scaled measurements.
• Develop Python scripts for platform automation and REST API tasks.
• Create/maintain client dashboards and scheduled reports.
• Document changes at the point of work and uphold standards.
• Support Linux servers, nginx, TLS, and service restarts.
