Job summary

CA is seeking an Investment Accounting Specialist to ensure daily pricing, valuation and exchange-rate accuracy for institutional portfolios. The role interfaces with NAV Pricing, Portfolio Administration, Tax and Compliance to strengthen controls and data quality.

The ideal candidate is either a couple of years into investment accounting or a newly qualified CA(SA) with financial services client experience, ready to join a top team in South Africa.

Qualifications

• CA(SA) qualified or 2+ years in investment accounting.
• Experience with pricing, valuation and corporate actions.
• Familiarity with market data feeds and reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure daily instrument pricing, valuation and exchange rate processes run accurately and on time.
• Sourcing price files from local and foreign exchanges; liaising with providers like JSE/Bloomberg.
• Monitor end-of-day price reconciliations and investigate valuation discrepancies.
• Create and maintain instruments, portfolios and classifications; reconcile data to market sources.
• Capture and verify corporate events including dividends, distributions and tax reclaims.

Ideal candidates will either have a couple of years in similar role looking to bring it to a top team or newly qualified CA(SA) with financial services clients.

What you will be doing:

• Ensuring daily instrument pricing, valuation and exchange rate processes run accurately and on time
• Sourcing price files from local and foreign exchanges and vendors, and liaising with providers such as the JSE and Bloomberg on data quality
• Monitoring end-of-day price reconciliations and investigating valuation discrepancies
• Creating and maintaining instruments, portfolios, classifications and benchmark data
• Reconciling static data to market sources to keep internal systems consistent
• Capturing and verifying regular and complex corporate events, including dividends, distributions and tax reclaims
• Sending elections and instructions to portfolio managers and custodians ahead of deadlines
• Managing the proxy voting process end to end, working closely with the governance analyst
• Maintaining the manager performance system, including cash resets and asset transfers
• Assisting with month-end pricing and calculating daily coupon accruals
• Contributing to projects that streamline and improve existing processes
