Inventory Cost Accountant (Manufacturing)

Responsibilities
- Daily oversight and validation of stock files.
- Manage inventory for raw materials, finished goods and maintenance related spares.
- Coordinate and validate monthly stock takes.
- Investigate and resolve stock variances across inbound, production, finished goods and maintenance.
- Ensure accurate recording of stock movements (receipts, issues, transfers adjustments).
- Maintain and optimise Syspro for inventory tracking and reporting.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of stock variances and identify root causes.
- Implement corrective action to reduce future discrepancies.
- Ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting for all inventory items.
- Oversee implementation and ongoing management of the OnKey maintenance system.
- Ensure accurate tracking of spare parts, maintenance schedules and equipment history.
- Train and support maintenance administrative staff for consistent system usage.
- Reconcile costs between OnKey and Syspro.
- Manage stock requisitions, approvals and ensure cost alignment with inventory levels.
- Serve as a central liaison between Finance, Operations and Maintenance.
- Promote transparency and accountability in stock and maintenance processes.
- Foster trust and open communication.
Qualifications
- Education: National Diploma in Cost Management Accounting or BCom Accounting Degree.
- Minimum 5 years experience in manufacturing and inventory control.
- Proficiency in Syspro ERP system (preferred).
- Experience with maintenance system implementation and administration (OnKey or similar).
- Deep understanding of stack control processes.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Attention to detail: Precision in data entry, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Problem‑solving: Ability to troubleshoot discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Collaboration: Working effectively with finance, operations and maintenance teams.
