Job summary

A leading company in the maritime sector is seeking an experienced Inventory Controller to maintain accurate inventory records and support supply chain operations. Successful candidates will possess 3–5 years of relevant experience, detail orientation, and strong organizational skills. This is a full-time position based in Gauteng, South Africa.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in inventory or warehouse management, preferably in the offshore, maritime, or oil & gas industry.
  • Strong understanding of accounting and inventory principles.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory records for all stock received, issued, and returned.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile any variances.
  • Monitor stock levels and initiate reorders to prevent shortages.
  • Oversee inspection and dispatch of materials to offshore vessels and land-based operations.
  • Generate weekly and monthly inventory and reconciliation reports.

Job description

Position: Inventory Controller

Reporting to: Supply Chain Manager

Job Purpose: We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Inventory Controller to join our Supply Chain team. The successful candidate will manage and maintain accurate inventory records, coordinate stock movements, and support operational requirements across all warehouses and offshore operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for all stock received, issued, and returned.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile any variances.
  • Monitor stock levels and initiate reorders to prevent shortages.
  • Oversee inspection and dispatch of materials to offshore vessels and land-based operations.
  • Ensure all documentation and labelling are accurate and compliant with company standards.
  • Generate weekly and monthly inventory and reconciliation reports.
  • Participate in stock audits and ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Embark on vessels for quarterly stock takes or audits as required.
  • Support the Supply Chain Manager with daily operations and ad hoc tasks.
Requirements
  • Education: Matric certificate with qualification in Accounting and/or Inventory Management.
  • Experience: 3–5 years’ experience in inventory or warehouse management, preferably in the offshore, maritime, or oil & gas industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and SAGE.
  • Strong organizational and numerical skills.
  • Understanding of accounting and inventory principles.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of safety and compliance standards in industrial environments.
