Job summary

SAB in South Africa is seeking a dedicated Inventory Controller to manage Finished Goods (FG) inventory across the logistics chain. You will ensure SAP reflects all movements, maintain quality controls, and enforce DPO standards for freshness, blocking, and obsolescence.

You will perform independent FG counts, investigate variances, and drive corrective actions while aligning with budget and reporting requirements. The role demands accuracy, integrity, and strong analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, engineering, commerce, supply chain, logistics or sciences.
• 2–3 years' experience in a stock control environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage FG inventory quality and adherence to DPO standards.
• Block FG inventory in SAP and maintain physical controls for quality/obsolete stock.
• Ensure freshness and stock rotation per DPO policies.
• Record inventory counts with accurate SKU, quantities, BBD, and bin data.
• Apply inventory concession processes per product age standards.
• Monitor and control obsolete inventory and segregation.
• Oversee repacking of FG salvage stock per procedures.
• Ensure obsolete stock is decanted per approved policies.
• Conduct independent FG inventory counts and reconcile with SAP.
• Investigate and resolve variances; escalate where needed.
• Validate and record all FG movements in SAP; check packaging receipts.
• Verify write-offs with approved docs; process approvals.
• Review daily controls and T1/T2 shipment transactions.
• Process claims within timelines with complete documentation.
• Review and sign off driver route settlements; monitor costs vs budget.

The Key Purpose of this role is to effectively manage all Finished Goods (FG) inventory across the logistics supply chain, ensuring that product quality standards are consistently maintained and that all inventory governance policies, processes, and controls are adhered to. The role is responsible for ensuring that all physical inventory movements are accurately recorded and reflected in SAP, while proactively investigating, resolving, and reporting inventory variances to maintain inventory accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Key Roles and Responsibilities: FG Quality Management Adheres to Finished Goods (FG) inventory quality fundamentals and standards in line with DPO requirements. Ensures FG inventory is accurately blocked in SAP and supported by appropriate physical blocking controls for quality-related and obsolete stock, in accordance with DPO standards. Maintains compliance with freshness and stock rotation policies as defined by DPO standards. Ensures inventory counts are accurately recorded, with quantities, BBD, SKU, and bin card information clearly displayed and maintained according to DPO requirements. Applies and manages inventory concession processes in line with approved DPO product age standards. Monitors and controls quality-related and obsolete inventory to ensure accurate system records and physical stock segregation. Oversees the repacking of all FG salvage stock in accordance with established DPO standards and procedures. Ensures obsolete stock is decanted and handled in line with approved policies, procedures, and operational standards.

Inventory Management Conducts independent inventory counts of all Finished Goods (FG) inventory and reconciles results against SAP records. Identifies, investigates, resolves, and reports inventory count variances to ensure inventory accuracy. Escalates unresolved inventory discrepancies to the BLM, DCLM, and RLM, providing detailed commentary and corrective action plans. Ensures all physical movements of FG inventory are accurately transacted and recorded in SAP. Validates T1 and T2 inventory movements and packaging receipts against line counter records. Verifies write-offs against approved and signed documentation, including gate sheets, before processing. Ensures breakages, obsolete stock, and salvage inventory are appropriately approved, processed, and accurately reflected in SAP. Reviews and resolves daily inventory controls and open T1 and T2 shipment transactions. Processes claims within agreed timelines, ensuring supporting documentation is complete, approved, and reimbursement requirements are met. Reviews, approves, and signs off POC and T2 driver route settlement corrections. Monitors SCO Budget versus Actual (BUD vs ACT) costs, identifies variances, and develops corrective action plans to address gaps.
