About the Role

The purpose of the Intermediate / Senior Data Analystrole in Rainmaker Media is to leverage the richest and deepest customer database on the continent combined with transactional retail data assets to provide actionable trends and insights that enables business stakeholders to make sound commercial decisions. The Intermediate / SeniorData Analyst should have an interest &/or knowledge of digital and social media data and how data can be applied to inform and scale successful media campaigns. The role works collaboratively in an agile team, modelling and framing well-defined business scenarios to solve analytical problems, performing experimental design approaches to validate findings or test hypotheses, depicting the rationale of findings in easy-to-understand terms for business and providing consolidated business reports and metrics. The Intermediate / Senior Data Analyst has a passion for developing their skills in the art of data analytics, requiring a combination of technical, analytical and communication skills to infer meaning from data and translate these in a concise, cohesive story. Solves data problems using their knowledge in scientific disciplines. The Intermediate / Senior Data Analyst plays an integral role in building the analytics and data service offering within their domain to enable business to unlock data as a competitive advantage. The Intermediate / Senior Data Analyst is a conceptual and critical thinker and visual communicator with demonstrated understanding of how to translate commercial insights to derive meaning and value for the business.

Role Description
  • Work with business stakeholders to understand problem statements and frame requirements.
  • Develop, test, and validate ways to solve problems or address business requirements.
  • Work with business, technology, and development teams to find the most appropriate methods, techniques, and data for the task at hand.
  • Collaborate across teams and functions to leverage data and enable transformative insights that drive sound business decisions.
  • Design, develop, debug, test, document, and support solutions.
  • Drive post-implementation reviews and continuous improvement.
  • Create and communicate comprehensive and compelling reports, visualisations, and analytical findings including insightful observations, commentary, and recommendations.
  • Resolve complex data related queries from business stakeholders.
  • Monitor solutions and datasets so that issues can be identified, investigated, and resolved quickly and effectively.
  • Evaluate the accuracy and reliability of data sources and data gathering techniques to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Maintain documentation, user guides, and training material, ensuring consistent language, terminology, and definitions.
  • Guide and support new data analysts with complex projects and analytics.
  • Stay up to date on developments in data analytics and adjacent fields to ensure we apply the latest techniques and methods.
  • Degree or Diploma in relevant fields of Engineering, Operations Research, Statistics, Information Technology or Information Systems – (essential).
Qualifications and experience
Essential:
  • +3 years’ experience working as part of a progressive data team, ideally in an Associate / Data Analyst or similar role, with proven experience working with large datasets, developing analytics products & models, synthesising information, and communicating findings.
  • Experience applying analytical formula, modelling techniques, and trend forecasting using multiple data sources.
  • Experience creating dashboards and reports using data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Working knowledge of cloud computing and development platforms (AWS, Snowflake, Azure DevOps).
  • Excellent knowledge and application of SQL and relational databases.
