Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a data analytics professional in Johannesburg to analyse certified gold datasets, build Power BI dashboards, and translate business questions into testable analytical insights. You will work with Databricks SQL, star schemas, and metric views to ensure accurate, actionable conclusions for stakeholders.

The role emphasizes end-to-end delivery, data storytelling, and maintaining documentation of methods and assumptions while collaborating with Analytics Engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3 to 5 years in data analysis or business analytics
• Strong SQL: joins, aggregations and window functions on large datasets
• Working knowledge of statistics: distributions, hypothesis testing and significance
• Data modelling literacy: reads and navigates star schemas and gold models, mirrors them in Power BI semantic models
• Power BI: builds dashboards with semantic-model wiring, DirectQuery on facts and Dual on dimensions, with clear layout and visual storytelling
• Excel for working with data
• Ability to use Python or R for deeper statistical work is advantageous
• Databricks AI/BI dashboards experience is advantageous
• AI-assisted analysis experience is advantageous
• Report lifecycle and catalogue management experience is advantageous
• SAP business context is advantageous
• Retail data experience, ideally pharmacy retail; healthcare or financial services also count
