Job summary

A leading grain milling company in Pretoria seeks a Grain Operations Manager to oversee grain receiving, manage movement in and out of silos, and ensure compliance with procedures. Ideal candidates will have a technical qualification in Grain Milling or Logistics Management, along with supervisory experience in a related FMCG environment. Strong MS Office skills, especially in Excel, and communication abilities are essential for success in this role. The position offers a chance to significantly impact operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary technical qualification in Grain Milling or Logistics Management.
  • A degree will be a distinct added advantage.
  • Qualified PCO officer with a valid registered P number.

Responsibilities

  • Manage receiving of all raw grains at the mill site.
  • Communicate with Grain Procurement team at Head Office.
  • Check all consignment documents for accuracy.
  • Conduct sampling and grading of the grain.
  • Manage grain movement in and out of the silos.

Job description
Purpose

To manage the receiving of all grains (Wheat) and manage the material movement in and out of the Silos through the implementation of controls, recording and reporting to ensure controls are maintained in all intake operations and related functions/procedures relating to business on site in order to mitigate risks.

Responsibilities
  • Receiving of all Raw Grains on to the mill site including
  • Communicate with Grain Procurement team (Head Office)
  • Checking all consignment documents
  • Sampling and Grading the grain
  • Weighbridge operation-AGRIS
  • Silo Allocation
  • Grain Movement management (In and out of the Silos)
  • Grain Transfer records from Silo to the mill
  • Daily stock take and analysis
  • Compiling of all required reports within set deadlines
  • Managing the labour cost of the department
  • Setting adjustments and maintenance of all receiving equipment
  • Managing of budget
  • Managing of fumigants and stock control
  • Implement and manage hygiene and housekeeping according to site requirements
Qualifications
  • Tertiary technical qualification preferably Grain Milling or Logistics Management or equivalent will be ideal
  • A degree will be a distinct added advantage
  • Qualified PCO officer with valid registered P number.
Experience
  • Technical and Milling environment 2-3 years - Essential
  • Grain Milling experience 2-3 years - Desirable
  • FMCG at operational level 2-3 years - Essential
  • Supervisory experience 2-3 years – Essential
