A leading engineering company in Mpumalanga is seeking an experienced instrumentation technician. Responsibilities include conducting maintenance and repairs, developing PLC and SCADA programs, and ensuring equipment efficiency. Ideal candidates should have a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering and 3-4 years of relevant experience in a heavy industrial setting. This role requires advanced PLC programming skills and a driver's license.
Qualifications
- 3-4 years' experience in instrumentation as an instrumentation technician, post qualification in a heavy industrial environment.
- Intermediate to advanced computer literacy.
Responsibilities
- Provide feedback and recommendations on shortcomings, defects, and further maintenance required.
- Order consumables and request critical spares.
- Investigate and diagnose problems and breakdowns.
- Conduct risk assessment before maintenance activities.
- Carry out repairs and maintenance work on equipment.
- Monitor the efficiency of maintained equipment.
- Obtain work permits.
- Prioritise maintenance activities according to production requirements.
- Conduct plant inspections and report on integrity and safety matters.
- Identify improvement possibilities and give feedback.
- Develop PLC programs and attend to changes.
- Develop SCADA mimic pages.
- Execute instrumentation-related project work plant-wide.

Responsibilities
- Provide feedback and recommendations on short comings, defects and further maintenance required to restore equipment to original safe operating condition.
- Order consumables and request critical spares used.
- Investigate and diagnose problems and breakdowns.
- Conduct risk assessment before proceeding with maintenance activities.
- Carry out repairs, maintenance and preventative maintenance work on equipment.
- Monitor the efficiency of maintained equipment and machinery.
- Effectively maintain toolkit.
- Obtain work permit.
- Prioritise maintenance activities according to production requirements where required.
- Carry out plant inspections, action shortcomings where possible & report on integrity and safety matters.
- Identify improvement possibilities and give feedback to the departmental foreman.
- Develop PLC programs and attend to changes.
- Develop SCADA mimic pages.
- IT networking experience - Ethernet.
- Execute instrumentation related project work plant wide, from initiation to final handover and keep related paperwork up to date.
Qualifications
- N3 / Matric with Maths and Science.
- National Diploma Electrical Engineering Light current or Process Instrumentation.
- Trade Certification (qualified Instrumentation Artisan).
- 3-4 years' experience in instrumentation as an instrumentation technician, post qualification in a heavy industrial environment.
- puter literacy (Intermediate to advanced).
Required Skills
- Advanced PLC programming (Preferable Schneider PLC).
- SCADA Programming (Preferable Adroit Classic).
- Driver's licence.
