Overview

Our client, a leader in the healthcare industry is seeking an Instrumentation Technician to join their team based in Durban

Qualifications
  • Grade 12
  • Technical Diploma: National Diploma Electrical Engineering Light Current Electronics
  • 5 – 10 Years’ experience in Repairing and Calibrating Laboratory Equipment
  • Certified and registered Metrologist by National Laboratory Association as part of the Mert cert program.
  • Instrumentation trade test.
  • Comply with regulatory requirements of SHEQ, Standard Operating Procedure and Legislation.
Responsibilities
  • Perform calibration and verification of company equipment as required by SANS 17025.
  • Ensure that procedures for calibration and verification are followed to the letter and any deviations are reported.
  • Ensure that the environmental conditions are within specifications and that the calibration is valid.
  • Travel to Zone Sites and/ or Branches to perform job functions.
  • Ensure that all calibration performed is valid and that the reference equipment is valid.
  • Undertakes routine inspection of equipment, instruments, alarms and recording devices with the guidance of the SAP Maintenance.
  • Schedule to ensure compliance with Industrial norms and international standards.
  • Adjust, modify and/or repair faulty or non-compliant items.
  • Communicate with customers and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Perform repairs to thermostats, recording devices, repairing water baths, electric equipment, digital equipment, centrifuges, platelet shakers, incubators, BP machines, pack scales, rina, sharples centrifuges and installations of controls for walk in incubators for SANBS and NBI.
  • Ensure that reference equipment is calibrated and is valid for calibration.
  • Ensure that a track record of reference equipment is filed to ensure the validity of results.
  • Ensure appropriate care is taken when handling reference equipment.
  • Ensure that tools and equipment are signed in and out of stock.
  • Manage the lifespan of tools and equipment through ongoing routine maintenance.
  • Order equipment and materials from suppliers according to job cards or workshop requisitions through the supervisor.
  • Ensure that relevant documentation is completed correctly during calibration.
  • Keep Record of Laboratory Equipment at branches.
  • Order Equipment and materials from suppliers according to job cards and workshop requirements.
  • Perform other reasonable duties if and when required from supervisor.
  • Manufacture specialized equipment i.e. platelet shaker, Blood racks, Water baths with rocker/shaker and any specialized equipment required from company.
