Responsibilities

Leading laboratory instrument supply company seeks a Field Service Technician. Good communication skills. Very good technical ability required. Technical fault‑finding. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings: mechanical, electronic and flow systems. Be a self‑starter and self‑driven. Typical administrative responsibilities: quoting, ordering stock, writing technical reports, planning service trips including travel and accommodation for three months ahead. Extensive travel away from home. Must be willing to learn and to retain training. Long‑term commitment essential. Doing routine maintenance services according to supplier preventative maintenance protocol on analytical and chemical laboratory instruments. Breakdowns and problem solving on analytical and chemical laboratory instruments. Working with customer base to ensure good relationships are maintained. Maintain a professional appearance at all times. Time keeping essential. General administration and maintenance of customer database.

Qualifications and Requirements

Educational requirements: National Diploma in Electrical / Electronic Engineering. Experience requirements: Previous experience in field service would be advantageous. Previous exposure to laboratories would be advantageous. Have excellent communication skills in both Afrikaans and English, written and spoken. Be proficient in Microsoft OS, Microsoft Office, basic knowledge of networking. Have own transport and valid drivers licence.
