Role Purpose
The Senior Instructional Designer provides vision leadership and coordination in designing, developing, and delivering accredited and non-accredited blended learning programmes. The role ensures compliance with SETA and QCTO requirements while creating innovative high-impact learning experiences that support Ucademys clients and learners in the BPO and wider corporate environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree or 3‑year Diploma in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum Design, Industrial Psychology or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualification in Education and/or Learning Sciences advantageous.
- Accreditation or certification in e‑learning platforms (e.g. Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Captivate).
- Minimum of 5 years experience in Instructional Design with a proven track record in accredited training development.
- Demonstrated knowledge of SETA / QCTO accreditation processes, compliance, and quality assurance.
- Experience in the BPO / contact centre sector advantageous.
- Proven experience in working with Learning Management Information Systems (LMIS) such as Moodle (development, administration and learner support).
- Previous experience in facilitating, evaluating and improving e‑learning & competencies.
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written and visual).
- Project management capability and ability to deliver on multiple deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficiency in LMIS / LMS platforms (e.g. Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas) for course design, tracking and reporting.
- Digital design proficiency (authoring tools, LMS integration and blended delivery).
- Facilitation skills and ability to evaluate learning effectiveness.
- Collaborative mindset able to work effectively with SMEs, facilitators and leadership.
Accountabilities
- Programme Development
- Design, develop and evaluate accredited and non‑accredited programmes aligned to SETA / QCTO standards.
- Create blended learning solutions (classroom, e‑learning, workplace learning).
- Develop and integrate content into LMIS systems (Moodle or similar) ensuring accessibility and learner engagement.
- Quality & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with all SETA / QCTO requirements.
- Prepare documentation for accreditation audits and quality assurance.
- Regularly review and update material to ensure relevance and compliance.
- Innovation & Impact
- Apply modern instructional strategies integrating technology and digital tools.
- Innovate beyond traditional methods to build scalable learning experiences.
- Monitor, measure and improve programme effectiveness using evaluation frameworks and LMIS data analytics.

- Work with SMEs, client stakeholders and internal leadership teams.
- Provide thought leadership in instructional design for the BPO sector.
- Build strong client relationships through solution‑oriented delivery.
