MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To provide comprehensive cost management, financial planning and analysis, and information management in support of both infrastructure projects and technical operations. The role also includes the supervision of administrative support functions, ensuring effective financial governance, operational efficiency, and informed decision-making within the Infrastructure Department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
- Drive and support process improvement initiatives that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Infrastructure Department.
- Ensure governance, compliance, and control related to cost management, documentation, and information systems.
- Supervise and administer financial and documentation processes related to infrastructure projects and technical operations.
- Conduct critical cost analysis and provide strategic advice to management on project expenditure and repairs, and maintenance costs.
- Deliver cost engineering services, including cost estimation, forecasting, and lifecycle cost analysis, to support infrastructure planning and execution.
Required Education
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Studies
DESIRED EDUCATION
- Data engineering, data analysis, and/or business intelligence qualifications, in addition to essential education
Required Experience
ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
- 5 years of experience in cost control.
- 5 years of experience in financial administration.
- 2 years of supervisory experience
Desired Experience

Role Description

The suitable candidate should preferable already live within 40km of the office. The Junior Civil Engineer will assist in the development of water, sewer, and stormwater master plans. Day-to-day activities include working closely with the senior engineering team in data collection, analysis and planning to ensure sustainable infrastructure solutions, utilising GLS's own software.
Qualifications
- Minimum B Tech in Civil Engineering

Role Responsibilities
- Responsible for design and modelling within municipal services realm – from planning to detailed design and construction drawings specific to land development and municipal infrastructure. (Roads, stormwater, water, sewer, telecoms, bulk earthworks)
- Assist in the preparation of project specifications, BoQ\'s, cost estimates and tender documentation.
- Prepare reports required by the project, implementation of all relevant codes of practice and ensuring that all work complies with Zutari\'s quality control procedures and is implemented to
- Knowledge and experience of working with relevant engineering codes, standards, and practices and specifically SANS 1200.
- Must be able to work well in a team to support the Project Leader but should also have the capability to take the lead on project designs.
- Ensure the quality of drawings produced and that the required drawing standards are maintained
- Undertake construction supervision duties where required.
