Job summary

Kyndryl Inc. is seeking a seasoned mainframe z/OS specialist to support and advance our z/OS platform services. You will work closely with global teams to plan, implement, and troubleshoot releases, upgrades, and ISV integration. Your role will include leading RCA discussions and guiding technical/operational teams across functions.

The position emphasizes security, system integrity, and ongoing modernization of the mainframe environment within a hybrid, collaborative culture.

The Role

Your role Bring your specialist knowledge and experience to a company managing 50% of the world's MIPS and open up the opportunity to shape the very foundation of the technology that drives our world. In this role, you'll provide the underlying mainframe operating system platform programming and DBDC subsystem programming support that forms the backbone of our applications.

What you will do

• Maintain and Troubleshoot
• Protect the mainframe: Develop, test, and maintain the software that controls a computer's operating system, hardware, and other systems software.
• Be a master troubleshooter: Use your problem-solving skills to fix even the most complex issues that arise.
• Maintain system integrity: Ensure the security of our computer systems.
• Design and Develop: Collaborate to create: Work closely with other IT professionals to design and implement cutting-edge technology that keeps Kyndryl ahead of the curve.
• Lead RCAs: Take the lead: As a leader in this field, you'll be expected to conduct RCA discussions for the products you work on and provide ongoing technical and operational guidance to lead professional work teams.
• Inform and Influence: Advise on strategy: Guide functional objectives on technologies, making use of your expert knowledge to inform outcomes.
• Inform and Influence: Lead and inspire: Your expertise will be crucial in influencing people outside of your department or function. You may even manage departments on a national or international level, defining objectives and managing resources to ensure the success of your projects.

Who You Are Required skills and experience

• Experience in Mainframe z/OS platform support
• Act as support and domain expert for z/OS operating system and system components; provide direct technical support as needed in the planning, coordination, installation, implementation and testing of releases, upgrades, or changes to z/OS operating system, network, and component software
• License management for ISV products, Patch management for z/OS
• Knowledge of SMP/E
• Experience with ISV product upgrades
• Primary support for assigned ISV products along with diagnosing z/OS platform system and product issues and following up with root cause analysis

Preferred skills and experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
• SME for MF z/OS system programming problem determination
• Evaluate and recommend changes to current and future system software requirements to meet the organization's needs
• Troubleshoot infrastructure and application issues related to z/OS
• Implementing and enforcing security policies on the z/OS system to protect sensitive data
