Purpose of the Role

The Dev Ops Engineer holds a transformational position within the Information Systems Department.

This role is responsible for the end-to-end management and execution of development and Automation Projects.

The incumbent will engage with stakeholders from the outset to foster collaboration and ensure successful project handovers.

These projects are integral to the Information Systems departments strategic transformation portfolio and will be managed under the direction of the Information Systems Executive.

Secondary Education

  • Bachelors degree in Information Systems Computer Science
  • Business Analytics or a related field. Applicable certificationsthat support the skills listed below.

Experience

5-10 years in IT field with hands on experience with ERP and Business systems in an Enterprise environment

Project Leadership and Strategy
  • Identify and analyse business and technical gaps opportunities and projectfeasibility whether self-identified or directed by leadership.
  • Develop and propose project plans including budget justification and keymilestones and secure buy-in from stakeholders.
Project Management & Execution
  • Manage the full project lifecycle overseeing resources schedules vendors andpersonnel.
  • Integrate and troubleshoot new systems ensuring a smooth transition.
  • Document and hand over completed projects to stakeholders for long-termownership.
Development and Automation
  • Lead the development and implementation of in-house software and automationsolutions.
  • Integrate new software with existing systems and manage licensing requirements
  • Ensure all developed software adheres to security standards and does not introduce new risks.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including user manuals and source code documentation.
  • Implement and manage version control for all developed software.
Support and Oversight
  • Provide training and support to end-users on new software including how itintegrates with existing systems.
  • Offer support to users for problems and queries related to new software.
  • Provide secondary oversight and administration for areas including ERPmanagement infrastructure security data management and businessintelligence.
Skills
  • Cloud Platforms : Extensive experience with major cloud providers like AWS Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This includes understanding services for computing (e.g. EC2 Azure VMs) storage (S3 Blob Storage) databases and networking.
  • Automation and CI / CD : Hands-on experience with automation tools and CI / CD (Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery) pipelines.
  • CI / CD Tools : Jenkins GitLab CI / CD Circle CI or GitHub Actions.
  • Scripting Languages : Proficiency in languages like Python Bash or PowerShell for automating tasks.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) : Experience with tools like Terraform Ansible or CloudFormation to manage and provision infrastructure.
  • Containerization & Orchestration :
  • Containerization : Deep knowledge of Docker forbuilding and running applications in containers.
  • Orchestration : Experience with Kubernetes for managing and scaling containerized applications.
  • Monitoring and Logging : The ability to implement and manage monitoring and logging solutions is crucial.
  • Tools : ELK Stack (Elasticsearch Logstash Kibana) Prometheus Grafana or Datadog.
  • Version Control : Expert-level knowledge of Git and platforms like GitHub GitLab or Bitbucket
