⭐Role: General Security Engineer

⭐Location: Johannesburg (Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week)

⭐Contract: 6 months (with potential extension)

⭐Experience: 5+ years

About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced General Security Engineer to strengthen our enterprise security posture. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, email security, and proxy solutions, along with a strong understanding of core security engineering principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement, configure, and manage Microsoft Defender for Endpoint across large-scale environments.
• Enhance and maintain email security systems to mitigate phishing, spam, and malware threats.
• Manage forwarding proxy solutions (e.g., Zscaler, Blue Coat) for secure and filtered web access.
• Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to identify, analyze, and remediate vulnerabilities.
• Contribute to the development and enforcement of security policies and standards.
• Conduct regular security assessments and recommend improvements.
• Stay current on emerging threats, trends, and technologies in the cybersecurity landscape.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
• Strong knowledge of email security protocols and tools.
• Hands-on experience with forwarding proxy solutions (Zscaler, Blue Coat, etc.).
• Solid understanding of security engineering principles and incident response.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.

Preferred Certifications

• Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate
• CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent
• Experience working within enterprise-level security environments
