Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior technicians in performing routine inspections and maintenance on various industrial equipment, including conveyor systems, pumps, motors, and heavy machinery.
• Learn and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
• Participate in troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues under supervision.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to understand equipment operation and repair procedures.
• Safely operate hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and other machinery as required for maintenance tasks.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, parts used, and time spent on each task.
• Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including lock-out/tag-out protocols.
• Support the team in emergency repair situations, working efficiently to restore equipment functionality.
• Gain exposure to different areas of industrial maintenance, including welding, fitting, and basic electrical work.

Requirements

• A strong desire to learn and develop skills in industrial maintenance.
• Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent qualification, with a good understanding of Mathematics and Physical Science.
• Ability to understand and follow technical instructions and safety guidelines.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Good physical condition, able to perform manual labor and work in various environmental conditions.
• Willingness to commit to a structured apprenticeship program, which may include off-site training or study.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Reliability and a strong work ethic.
• Residency or willingness to relocate to the Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal area.
• Must be legally eligible to work in South Africa.
