Overarching Role

In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape and innovate the future of our product line, combining aesthetics, functionality, and user experience to create exceptional designs.

The role will require creative and innovative product design, primarily specialising in sheet metal.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Research and development
• Concept design and development
• Identify trends, issues, or areas for improvement
• Design
• Good understanding of Engineering
• Generate 3D models and detailed drawings using CAD software, with a focus on sheet metal forming, bending, cutting, and assembly techniques
• Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, including cutting, bending, stamping, welding, and forming
• Ability to read & interpret engineering design and schematics with precision and accuracy
• Collaboration and documentation required on all projects
• Manufacturing support required for the R&D Assembly Team
• Manufacturing data
• Project Development and Management: Work closely with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, procurement, quality control) to ensure designs can be produced efficiently and meet project timelines
• Track product design progress and communicate project updates to relevant stakeholders
• Prototyping, Technical support, Factory support: Creating technical data, fitment instructions, BOMs, assembly instructions, maintain records of work processes, changes, and outcomes
• Testing and Prototyping: Work with engineering and R&D to develop prototypes, test functionality, structural integrity, and manufacturability; analyze and incorporate feedback from testing and manufacturing to refine designs and resolve issues
• Ensure final products meet performance criteria, quality standards, and customer expectations
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest trends and advancements in sheet metal design and manufacturing techniques

• Proficient in SolidWorks (required) and / or Solid Edge (beneficial)
• 7+ years experience in 3D modelling
• Sheet Metal Experience highly beneficial
• National Diploma or BTech: Mechanical Engineering (specifically looking for a technically qualified individual), with focus on 3D Design, Industrial Design, Sheet Metal Specialist
• Experience in overlanding / outdoor product and vehicle accessory production design is beneficial
• Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical documentation; Excellent communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration; Analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in addressing design challenges related to manufacturability and material use; Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; Self-manage and seek out feedback from team members; Teamwork, interpersonal relationships, and cooperation; Time management to meet project deadlines
