Job summary

A leading business solutions firm in Cape Town seeks an experienced sales professional with a strong background in Sugar Sales and FMCG. Responsibilities include developing customer relationships, providing input into sales strategies, and monitoring supply chain issues. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience. Strong negotiation skills and business acumen are essential for this role.

Job description
Key performance areas
  • Provide input into the Industrial Commercial strategy, and prepare sales budgets and updates to deliver the industrial sales objectives
  • Develop and manage relationships with customers, through a sound understanding of the customer’s business and requirements,
  • Determine monthly volume estimates, track sales performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Conduct Joint Business Planning with customers
  • Execute the Sales Service Offering, with adherence to call schedules and structured sales calls in order to deliver against the agreed sales contracts
  • Monitor and resolve trade supply chain issues with Logistics and Finance to ensure agreed service levels are consistently met
  • Continuously track actual sales vs estimated sales, and analyze trends and variances to improve accuracy of forecasting
  • Negotiate price increases with customers, and communicate and implement agreed pricing schedules
  • Conduct customer business reviews to continuously track and drive sales, and initiate actions for improvement (in conjunction with Industrial Sales Manager if required)
  • Collect and provide timeous market intelligence through daily contact with Industrial Sales Manager and monthly sales reports
  • Collaborate with Factory, Logistics and Finance to ensure delivery in service of the customer
  • Promote and adhere to Illovo’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC)
Minimum specifications / requirement areas
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/ Commerce/ Marketing /other relevant degree qualification or relevant tertiary qualification
  • 5+ years’ experience in Sugar Sales or Sales in FMCG of which 2 years sales experience to Chain Stores or Industrial manufacturers will be required. Understanding of the Sugar industry will be an added advantage
  • Ability to establish relationships across functions and influencers in the business
  • Business and financial acumen, ability to conduct customer business reviews, understanding of supply chains in FMCG, negotiation and influencing skills, ability to develop and deliver sales presentations, report writing skills, product and process knowledge
  • Clean and valid driving license.
