Formación

• LLB degree from a recognized university.
• Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Min 5 years post-qualification legal experience, preferably in energy or project finance.
• Strong contract law and commercial negotiation skills.
• Knowledge of SA energy regulations.
• Experience in dispute resolution and litigation management.
• Excellent analytical and drafting abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Responsabilidades

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts including PPAs, EPCs, and supply agreements.
• Provide legal advice on regulatory compliance within the SA energy sector.
• Manage dispute resolution, arbitration, and litigation.
• Support project development, financing, and acquisition activities.
• Conduct legal research and provide opinions on legal issues.
• Advise on corporate governance and ensure compliance with laws.

This role is vital for providing legal support across a broad spectrum of commercial, contractual, and regulatory matters pertinent to the energy industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, advising on compliance with energy regulations, managing litigation, and supporting project development and finance initiatives. Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), EPC contracts, and supply agreements.
• Provide legal advice on regulatory compliance within the South African energy sector.
• Manage and advise on dispute resolution, including arbitration and litigation.
• Support the legal aspects of project development, financing, and acquisition activities.
• Conduct legal research and provide opinions on various legal issues affecting the business.
• Advise on corporate governance matters and ensure compliance with relevant laws.
• Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures.
• Manage relationships with external legal counsel.
• Ensure adherence to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.

Requirements

• A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university.
• Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification legal experience, preferably with experience in the energy sector or project finance.
• Strong understanding of contract law and commercial negotiation.
• Knowledge of South African energy regulations and policy is a significant advantage.
