Job summary

A logistics and consulting firm in Montague Gardens is seeking an Imports Coordinator to manage the end-to-end import process. This role demands precision in coordinating deliveries with various partners, and candidates should have 4-6 years of relevant experience. Job description

Our client, a well-established player in the FMCG / import environment, is looking to appoint an Imports Coordinator to join their supply chain team in Montague Gardens.

This role requires someone confident in managing the end‑to‑end import process, working closely with agents, transporters, warehouses, and clearing partners.

It's a critical support role within a fast‑moving environment that demands precision, coordination, and the ability to deliver under pressure.

Based in Montague Gardens, Cape Town
  • 4–6 years’ hands‑on experience in forwarding, shipping, customs, and warehousing
  • Proven experience liaising with transporters and freight forwarders
  • Strong understanding of Incoterms and international trade documentation
  • High‑volume or multinational import environment experience is advantageous
  • Solid Excel and numeracy skills
  • Experience in Syspro would be beneficial
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate deliveries with agents, warehouses, and freight providers (including LCL and airfreight)
  • Track shipments and confirm order details with suppliers
  • Submit accurate documentation to clearing agents and maintain schedule updates
  • Ensure Incoterms, shipping/payment terms, PO numbers, and other commercial data are correct
  • Buy foreign exchange and complete import costings
  • Process agent invoices, confirm VAT, duty, and HS code accuracy
  • Update Syspro and internal shipping schedules
  • Ensure timely submission of documents for payment processing
  • Maintain filing systems and customs documentation for audit readiness
  • Ensure compliance with ISO and SARS requirements
  • Support buyers and the supply chain director with accurate reporting and coordination
Educational and Other Requirements
  • Matric is essential
  • Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Imports / Exports, or Logistics preferred
  • Understanding of IATI / dangerous goods shipments
  • Accuracy and diligence when handling customs and shipment documentation
  • Ability to prioritise multiple shipments and work under pressure
  • Approachable, communicative, and proactive problem solver
