Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting an experienced Viticulturist for a renowned Mossel Bay winery to oversee large vineyards and ensure premium grape quality. The role blends hands-on field leadership with strategic, remote planning and decision-making.

This hybrid position requires a deep scientific understanding of grape growing, strong management skills, and a commitment to sustainable viticulture, collaborating with winemakers across the vineyard team.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in viticulture or related field.
• At least 7 years' vineyard management experience.
• Deep knowledge of grape physiology and soil science.
• License to drive; ability to work in field and remotely for planning.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement vineyard management plans for irrigation, fertilization, and pest/disease control.
• Monitor vine growth and grape development throughout the season.
• Oversee pruning, canopy management, and fruit thinning.
• Coordinate harvesting operations for quality grapes.
• Collaborate with winemakers to meet production standards.
• Maintain records of planting, treatments, and yield.
