Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive PR and Communications Officer in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, to support the development and execution of public relations strategies. The role combines in-office collaboration with remote work, and involves crafting press materials, managing media relations, and coordinating communications across departments.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Communications or related field, 1–3 years of PR experience, and strong writing and proofreading skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, Marketing or related field.
• 1-3 years in public relations, communications or related role.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with strong proofreading.
• Familiarity with media relations and press releases writing.
• Basic understanding of social media platforms and content management.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating and implementing PR and communications plans.
• Draft press releases, media advisories, social media posts, and internal communications.
• Support media outreach and build relationships with local media contacts.
• Monitor media coverage and compile regular reports on mentions.
• Organize and coordinate press events, conferences, and other activities.
• Provide support for crisis communication as directed.
