Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Lead Metallurgical Process Engineer for a senior role in Randburg, SA. You will guide process design, optimization, and troubleshooting across multiple mineral projects, partnering with geologists and mining engineers to integrate metallurgical considerations from concept through execution.

You will lead pilot programs, mentor a team, and deliver data-driven technical solutions while adhering to safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree required in metallurgy or chemical engineering.
• 8–10 years in metallurgical process engineering in mining.
• Experience leading design and optimization projects.
• Proficiency with METSIM, HSC Chemistry, Aspen Plus.
• PE designation or equivalent highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead metallurgical process design for multiple mineral commodities.
• Optimize plant operations to improve recovery and reduce costs.
• Develop pilot plant programs and bench tests to evaluate new tech.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and technicians.
• Ensure safety, health and environmental compliance across activities.
• Prepare technical reports and feasibility studies.
