Frogg Recruitment is seeking a Junior Accountant/Accountant in Bellville, Cape Town, with a solid foundation in reconciliations and internal controls. You will handle day-to-day processing through month-end close, ensuring precise record-keeping and accountability.

The role requires 3 years of transactional accounting, Sage experience, advanced Excel skills, and solid VAT knowledge. It offers a hybrid work arrangement (1 day in office, 4 days on-site) in a financial services environment.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ transactional accounting experience
• Experience with Sage or equivalent
• Advanced MS Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, reconciliations)
• Solid understanding of South African VAT principles and double-entry accounting

Responsibilities

• Daily Sage Processing & General Ledger: capture invoices, journals, and allocations
• Input Sheet & Transaction Review: verify key financial details before posting
• Banking, Payments & Internal Controls: prepare and review payments with audit trails
• Settlements & Client Statements: reconcile monthly statements and settlements
• Month-End Reconciliations: perform monthly reconciliation tasks
• VAT & Statutory Compliance: prepare VAT calculations and maintain compliance
• Assist with Management Accounts & Audit Support: prepare schedules for trial balance
• Cross-Functional Backup: support cash flow updates and peak-period processing
