Job summary

ATS Client in Cape Town seeks a Data Scientist to join a leading investment group. You’ll tackle complex business challenges using machine learning, AI, NLP, and advanced analytics, contributing to cutting‑edge AI initiatives that influence strategic decisions.

This role involves designing and deploying models, building NLP/Generative AI and computer vision solutions, collaborating with cross‑functional teams, and delivering production‑ready AI tools.

Qualifications

• Honours, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
• 3–5 years’ experience in a Data Science or Applied Machine Learning role.
• Strong proficiency in Python, SQL (PostgreSQL), and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit‑learn.
• Experience developing and deploying machine learning, NLP, Generative AI, and computer vision solutions.
• Knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs), RAG architectures, vector databases, and AI frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, OpenAI API, or Claude.
• Experience with Docker, AI automation tools, and integrating AI solutions into enterprise applications.
• Experience with React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Zoho CRM integrations, and AI workflow automation tools will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy, and optimise machine learning and AI models to solve complex business problems.
• Build NLP, Generative AI, and computer vision solutions using modern AI frameworks and technologies.
• Perform data analysis, statistical modelling, and experimentation to generate actionable business insights.
• Develop dashboards and AI‑powered tools to support business decision‑making.
• Automate workflows and integrate AI solutions with enterprise systems and applications.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver scalable, production‑ready AI solutions.
• Research emerging AI technologies and continuously improve models, processes, and best practices.
• Document models, methodologies, and technical solutions to ensure knowledge sharing and reproducibility.
