Job summary

Kirby Group Engineering seeks an HV Commissioning Engineer to support major transmission, substation and renewable projects in Scotland. You will coordinate testing, commissioning and energisation of HV equipment up to 400kV, ensuring compliance with design specs, safety standards and performance criteria.

Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, you will work with project teams, clients and vendors to drive turnover activities, FATs/SATs, and project handover, while contributing to site-based

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety practices and industry standards.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics and commissioning documentation.
• Willingness to travel to project locations across Scotland.

Responsibilities

• Review project specifications, drawings and commissioning requirements to develop effective testing and commissioning plans.
• Support the development and execution of commissioning schedules and turnover activities.
• Ensure commissioning and turnover procedures are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
• Participate in FATs, SATs and vendor testing activities.
• Review commissioning procedures, RAMS and testing documentation.
• Coordinate commissioning activities with equipment manufacturers, subcontractors and client teams.
• Carry out equipment inspections, client walkdowns and system verification activities.
• Witness pre-energisation and start-up testing of HV equipment and systems.
• Coordinate commissioning and switching activities with authorised operational personnel.
• Witness and verify commissioning activities on transformers, switchgear, protection systems, CTs, VTs, cables and HV infrastructure.
