Our client an established CMT factory in Durban is looking to fill the position of Human Resources Officer.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruitment – ability to interview and recruit skills to fill job openings.
- Guide and assist managers with staff disciplinary issues.
- Draft warnings when requested by managers.
- Chair disciplinary hearings or arrange with external chairperson to schedule disciplinary hearings.
- Draft suspensions and notices to attend disciplinary hearing.
- Obtain information and statements from managers before suspension and hearings scheduled.
- Data capturing and recording of pertinent information.
- Keep a meticulous filing system.
- Follow up on occupational health and safety.
- Act as liaison between senior management and shop stewards.
- Assist managers with completion of IOD documents WCL2 and submission of IOD to DOL.
- Work with the finance team to prepare for social audits.
- Promote a healthy working environment for staff and management.
- Handle labour disputes and remedy any issues employees might have.
- Work with managers to render and initiate training for new starters and identify talent in new starters for future growth.
- Manage risk by being compliant with South African Labour laws and recommendations.
- Stay abreast of all labour legislation and evolving needs of employers and employees.
- Be involved with payroll assisting with completion and submission of provident fund.
- Manage maternity leave forms.
- Align with operations to ensure staffing requirements are met in order to meet production requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 Senior Certificate
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- Experience within a Unionised environment is essential
- Sound knowledge and understanding of HR policies and procedures (best practices)
- Sound Knowledge of BCEA and application thereof
- Knowledge of Employment Equity
- Knowledge of Training and Development
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
