Job description
Overview

Our client based in Springfield Park, Durban is looking for a HR and Payroll Officer to join their team. We are seeking a meticulous and well-organized Payroll & HR Officer to manage payroll processes and provide generalist HR support. This role is ideal for someone who understands the intricacies of South African labour legislation and enjoys working in a dynamic, people-focused environment.

Payroll
  • Administer and process payroll accurately using PSIBer software.
  • Calculate hours worked from manual clocking sheets, including normal time and overtime.
  • Ensure compliance with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA).
  • Manage leave and sick leave records.
  • Liaise with accountants for statutory returns, IRP5s, and Workmen's Compensation submissions.
Human Resources
  • Work closely with LabourNet on labour relations, including disciplinary procedures and CCMA matters.
  • Issue verbal and written warnings when required.
  • Assist in drawing up employment contracts (short-term and permanent).
  • Support Employment Equity (EE) submissions in collaboration with LabourNet.
  • Coordinate and track annual training plans.
  • Liaise with supervisors and support line management in day-to-day HR matters.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in payroll administration and basic HR functions.
  • Solid understanding of BCEA and other relevant South African labour laws.
  • Familiarity with PSIBer or similar payroll systems.
  • Experience working with clocking systems and manual time sheets.
  • Knowledge of Employment Equity and disciplinary procedures.
  • Strong administrative skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Working hours: 8.00 to 14.00 or 07.00 to 13.00
