Job Description Our client based in Springfield Park, Durban is looking for a HR and Payroll Officer to join their team.

We are seeking a meticulous and well-organized Payroll HR Officer to manage payroll processes and provide generalist HR support.

This role is ideal for someone who understands the intricacies of South African labour legislation and enjoys working in a dynamic, people-focused environment.

Responsibilities

Payroll:

  • Administer and process payroll accurately using PSIBer software.
  • Calculate hours worked from manual clocking sheets, including normal time and overtime.
  • Ensure compliance with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA).
  • Manage leave and sick leave records.
  • Liaise with accountants for statutory returns, IRP5s, and Workmen's Compensation submissions.

Human Resources:

  • Work closely with LabourNet on labour relations, including disciplinary procedures and CCMA matters.
  • Issue verbal and written warnings when required.
  • Assist in drawing up employment contracts (short-term and permanent).
  • Support Employment Equity (EE) submissions in collaboration with LabourNet.
  • Coordinate and track annual training plans.
  • Liaise with supervisors and support line management in day-to-day HR matters.
Qualifications

Proven experience in payroll administration and basic HR functions. Solid understanding of BCEA and other relevant South African labour laws. Familiarity with PSIBer or similar payroll systems. Experience working with clocking systems and manual time sheets. Knowledge of Employment Equity and disciplinary procedures. Strong administrative skills with attention to detail. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
